Therapists for Women’s Issues in Bergen County

Bianca Shmulevich, LCSW

Parenting, Relationships, Health & Life Transitions

You may be the person everyone relies on. The one who takes care of others, keeps things running, and carries responsibilities without asking for much in return. On the outside, you may appear strong and capable, but internally, you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, or unsure how to prioritize yourself without guilt.

Many of the clients I work with are women, caregivers, parents, and adults navigating significant life transitions. They may be balancing family responsibilities, chronic health concerns, relationship challenges, caregiving roles, or major changes in their personal lives. Often, they have spent so much time focusing on everyone else’s needs that they have lost touch with their own.

I also have a special interest in supporting women recovering from emotionally abusive or narcissistic relationships. You may find yourself questioning your instincts, struggling to set boundaries, or feeling disconnected from the person you once were. Together, we can work to rebuild self-trust, strengthen your sense of self, and create healthier, more fulfilling relationships moving forward.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I believe therapy works best when you feel safe enough to be yourself. Together, we will explore the patterns, relationship dynamics, attachment experiences, and coping strategies that may be contributing to your current challenges. At the same time, we will focus on practical tools and meaningful changes that help you feel more confident, grounded, and empowered in your daily life.

I view mental and physical health as deeply connected and often incorporate both into our work. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), attachment-based approaches, Motivational Interviewing, and strength-based, solution-focused interventions. Every client is unique, and I tailor therapy to meet your individual needs, goals, and experiences.

I have experience supporting individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, chronic health conditions, parenting stress, family conflict, and life transitions. Throughout my career, I have worked with clients across many stages of life, including adolescence, pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, marriage, divorce, caregiving responsibilities, loss, and later-life transitions. I also enjoy working with older adults as they navigate changes in health, identity, independence, and relationships.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey and New York. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Hofstra University and my Master’s degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. I have completed specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and nutrition-informed approaches to mental health.

Seeking support is not a sign of weakness—it is an investment in yourself and your well-being. If this resonates with you, I would be honored to support you as you navigate life’s challenges and create meaningful, lasting change.
