Therapists for Women’s Issues in Bergen County
Joanne Ciriello, LPC
Life Transitions, Grief, Relationships & Aging

Today’s society is all about youth – looking younger, acting younger, “being” younger. But I challenge that concept. With age comes wisdom, and life’s experiences provide me with a perspective that may help you address life’s challenges. Together we will forge a bond and I will support you in your journey to self-fulfillment and achieving short- and long-term goals. I promise that during our therapy sessions, you will be treated with empathy and without judgment.
Using a client-centered approach, I create a custom therapy plan that utilizes therapeutic techniques aimed to help you in your specific situation. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, and Motivational Interviewing, are just a few of the modalities I employ in my practice. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, and life transitions, such as marital issues, the aging process, divorce, and bereavement. In addition, I have experience working with couples. Listening to each person with empathy, I will assist you as a couple in navigating the bumps in the road that life presents and forging a plan for better communication in your relationship.
My role as a high school counselor, with four of those years working exclusively with the special education population, has kept me grounded and abreast of the challenges facing today’s family dynamics. My love of organized sports, both as an athlete and a coach, from middle grades to collegiate levels, gives me an understanding of the unique pressures facing today’s aspiring athletes and their families.
A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I earned my master’s in counseling from Montclair State University, as well as have taken advanced studies at Kean University. I have over 25 years in the counseling profession.
