Therapists for Women’s Issues in Bergen County

Lauren Mulkay, LPC

Clinical Supervisor
Relationships, Women’s Mental Health, Self-Discovery & Teens

My goal is to help clients—whether individually, as a couple, or a teen—reach their fullest potential and create lasting, meaningful change by understanding the interconnectedness of thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships. I believe that healing begins with self-awareness and self-compassion. Through prioritizing mindfulness and self-care, I guide clients toward personal growth, greater emotional resilience, and healthier, more fulfilling relationships. Together, we work to strengthen self-understanding, build effective coping skills, and develop healthier patterns of thinking, communication, and connection.

I have a particular passion for supporting women in various stages of life who may be struggling with self-identity, self-worth, confidence, life transitions, and interpersonal challenges. Whether you are navigating the demands of motherhood, relationship difficulties, career changes, anxiety, or a sense of feeling disconnected from yourself, therapy can be a space to rediscover your strengths, clarify your values, and cultivate a life that feels authentic and meaningful.

In my practice, I specialize in helping adults navigate a range of concerns, including mood disorders, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and self image issues. I also work with couples to foster deeper emotional connection, enhance communication, and break cycles of conflict in order to create stronger, more satisfying relationships. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with teens, utilizing developmentally appropriate and engaging therapeutic techniques to help young clients express emotions, strengthen coping skills, and navigate social and emotional challenges.

My approach to therapy is integrative and individualized, drawing from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based interventions, and other evidence-based approaches. By exploring both present-day challenges and the underlying experiences that shape them, I work collaboratively with clients to create a personalized treatment plan that honors where they are in their journey while empowering them to build confidence, deepen self-understanding, and create lasting change.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Clinical Supervisor in New Jersey with extensive experience in individual adult and adolescent psychotherapy, children’s play therapy, and couples therapy. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Fordham University and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Hodges University in Naples, Florida.
