Therapists for Women’s Issues in Bergen County

Meet –
Geimy McFarland, LCSW
Therapist | Clinical Supervisor
Taking the first step toward healing can feel daunting, but no matter what you have gone through in the past or what you are facing now, please know you are not alone. My goal is to work collaboratively with you to create a safe and open space where you can process your thoughts and feelings without judgment, at your own pace. Using a strengths-based, client-centered approach, I can meet you wherever you are in your journey toward self-discovery and personal growth.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), a master’s in social work from Rutgers University, and a certificate from Rutgers in Violence Against Women & Children. In my practice, I take a trauma-informed, holistic approach to therapy, recognizing that your experiences are shaped by your relationships, environment, and life stage. I am deeply passionate about women’s mental health and supporting you through the complexities that arise across the lifespan.
I integrate a variety of evidence-based, trauma-informed modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness therapy, and Somatic therapy. Through this work, I support you in processing and healing from trauma while addressing issues with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, attachment difficulties, compassion fatigue, and emotional regulation. I have a particular specialization in perinatal mental health and trauma, including fertility, pregnancy, postpartum experiences, and early parenthood. I also support individuals navigating grief, loss, infertility, and major life transitions, always with sensitivity, curiosity, and respect for your unique story.
I offer clinical services in both English and Spanish. As someone from an immigrant family, I value the perspectives and experiences that culture brings to the healing process. My work with women and children survivors of complex trauma and abuse from diverse ethnic, racial, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds allows me to foster an inclusive and affirming therapeutic space.
You are capable of tapping into your inner strength and resilience to face any hardship or challenge that arises. My role is to support and guide you with empathy and compassion as you move toward achieving your full potential of self-sufficiency, self-empowerment, and self-love.
